Global House

Are you interested in global affairs, learning about different cultures, speaking different languages, and hearing from experts in the global affairs field? Global House is a new option for the 2017-2018 academic year that brings together students interested in many topics under the broad umbrella of international and global affairs.

Over the course of the year, you’ll live with peers who have a shared interest in cross-cultural engagement, learning about different cultures, and discovering the many factors that play a role in global affairs. The community is seeking both domestic and international students to offer an environment that encourages cross-cultural dialogue through events involving food, films, and guest experts to name a few.

Working with the Office of International Education, students in the community will have unique access to guest speakers on topics pertaining to the community. Moreover, open lounges in Freeman Hall will allow students to participate in organic discussions on international topics.

Students wanting an immersion language experience can apply for La Casa Hispánica community, which will live in the same building as Global House. Students interested in La Casa Hispánica should have completed LAIS 221.

Those intending to apply for Global House simply need to demonstrate in their application a strong interest in global affairs – due to their career interests, academic interests, love of travel, and/or simply their experiences related to this topic. For both communities, the application in StarRez is the only required step – no interviews will be conducted.
