Campaign 2012 will combine a traditional class with experiential activities that enable students to take part in the campaigning process and interact with scholars and practitioners engaged in the 2012 presidential and congressional campaigns.
Inside the Classroom
Students will read relevant literature on various aspects of campaigns and elections and link directly to the ongoing developments in the campaigns. The class will allow students the chance to take part in a campaign and complete assignments that relate to the practice of campaigns:
Outside the Classroom
Students may elect to volunteer on a campaign or with a media organization. In addition to discussing their experiences with each other, students will discuss ways to improve on campaigns and elections. The community will take off-campus trips to Washington, D.C. and potentially around Virginia to meet with scholars and practitioners, interact with campaigns, and attend events.
Students in the Campaign 2012 community will help to plan the specific events associated with the class based on their interests like: guest speakers, films, and ways to take part in campaigns.

This living-learning community was also offered during the 2008 presdiential election. Read several news stories from The Collegian about the community and student experiences:
