The Richmond Endeavor

Launching in the fall of 2018, The Richmond Endeavor is a new living-learning experience for first-year students. The Richmond Endeavor is designed for students to create meaningful bonds and friendships with their fellow classmates, develop a relationship with a faculty member during their first year at Richmond, and connect their interests both inside and outside of the classroom.

Defining features of The Richmond Endeavor are:

  • Dedicated academic advising by a faculty mentor who will help you plan your classes each semester from the summer before you get to campus until you declare a major
  • Participate in the popular Roadmap to Success pre-orientation program, that will introduce campus, classes and the city of Richmond to you before the semester begins
  • Connect with and get advice from a dedicated peer-advisor, a current Richmond student who knows the in's and out's
  • Enroll in a one–unit course in the fall semester, either a first-year seminar, a course that fulfills a general education requirement, or an introductory course to a major, led by the same faculty mentor who is also your academic advisor
  • Enroll in a half-unit course in the spring semester that is a project you design with your faculty mentor
  • Live together as a cohort in one of the first-year residence halls
