Residential Experience

We know that learning occurs outside of the classroom - and within our residence halls our living-learning communities seek to create an academic residential experience.

Sophomore Scholars in Residence: South Court

The Sophomore Scholars in Residence (SSIR) cohort is housed in South Court Residence Hall.  Students participating in SSIR have the opportunity to live with any other SSIR student, no matter which class they are participating in. Students will be able to meet others in their community, as well as other classes during first community meetings after they have been selected.

South Court is a co-ed residence hall with predominantly two double rooms sharing a bathroom. The large living room lounge on the first floor is great for group meetings, studying, or simply hanging out with fellow community members or members of other communities. Almost exclusively for SSIR students, South Court is an all-inclusive living-learning environment.

"We would also often sit in the lounge and discuss everything from healthcare reform to sanitation problems in India to the obesity epidemic. I love the way the program is set up because while class gave us the opportunity to be introduced to the topics, living together allowed us to talk more at length about them." — past SSIR student reflection

The Richmond Endeavor: Lora Robins Court

The Richmond Endeavor cohort is housed in Lora Robins Court. Lora Robins (or LoRo as it is known) is a traditional-style residence hall that features double rooms with hall bathrooms. LoRo features a number of floor lounges where students can socialize, study and hang out in, as well as a multi-purpose classroom in the lower level of the building.

Lora Robins Court is the largest co-ed residence hall housing first-year students on campus, and Endeavor students will have the benefit of living with other Endeavor students, but also get to know other first-year students in the residence hall.
