Community Travel

Students will have the opportunity to travel to sites in Eastern Europe where battles for the crusades were fought. The class will explore the sanctity of locations - those (almost) mythological places that play in our perception of history and the identity we derive from it. To do so, students will look into locations that have their own myth in the narrative of history.

Bulgaria & Romania

While in Bulgaria, the community will travel across the country to visit historical cities and sites that include:

While in Romania, the community will:

  • Visit Shigosoara, a citadel settled in the 12th century and still inhabited today.
  • Visit Castle Bran, the site where Vlad Dracul lived in exile, and was later an inspiration for the fictional story of Count Dracula
