Potential Research Projects

Through the fall semester, students will pursue an individual research project drawing from relevant parallelisms such as:

• "Moving" frontiers and resettlement policies
• Hibridity and purity: the nostalgia of origins and the birth of the Inquisition(s)
• Immigration and/as "conversion"
• Race, ethnicity and "second class" citizenship
• Language and/as power
• Religious and nationalistic zeal
• The effects of expulsion and deportation
• Generations: new idioms, new developments
• Orientalism and Hispanism

This individual research project will culiminate their fall semester course, add perspective for their community trip in January, and be the basis for their spring capstone project.
