Community Travel

In January 2013, students traveled to Havana, Cuba where they were able to experience firsthand what they had learned in the fall semester.

Havana, Cuba

While in Havana, students:

• Attended salsa dance classes
• Toured the Afro Cuban Museum
• Visited the Museum of Dance
• Took a bus tour of Havana
• Visited Callejon de Hammel
• Attended the National Ballet of Cuba
• Conducted interviews with local musicians, dancers
• Attended a show at LaTropicana

In 2011, students travelled to San Juan, Puerto Rico to see the transformation of Afro-Cuban music and American jazz into Latin jazz and salsa firsthand.
