Community Travel

The Protected Lands of the American West class will travel over fall break to visit different types of protected lands along a transect from Las Vegas, Nevada to Los Angeles, California.

Fall Break Trip to the American West
October 9–14, 2014, Fall Break 2015

The class will fly to Las Vegas, Nevada then embark on a four-day driving tour through:

• Ash Meadows National Wildlife Refuge
• Death Valley National Park, including:
  • Badwater
  • Artists Palette
  • Harmony Borax Works
  • Devils Cornfield
  • Mesquite Flat Sand Dunes
• Owens Valley, including:
  • Keeler and Dolomite
  • Lone Pine Eastern Sierra Interagency Visitor Center
  • Los Angeles Aqueduct Intake
  • Big Pine Paiute Tribe's Annual Fall Fandago
  • Bishop
• Yosemite National Park
  • Tuolumne Meadows Visitor Center
  • Lembert Dome
  • Dog Lake
  • Rim Fire
  • Tuolumme Grove
• Red Rock Canyon National Preservation Area
